Slot 4 on every genus can also roll Damage Boost (not on Natura or Varian), PvE Damage Boost, Endurance/Regeneration Penetration and Status Effect Chance.

Getting pets and leveling them

Pet collection grid with the Black Dragon selected and Collection Status 90/200
Pets tab: every pet you own, its level, and Collection Status (90 of 200 here).
  1. Kill monsters to collect their souls. With enough souls, the monster becomes your pet.
  2. Level the pet with more of its souls. Each pet has its own Insight level, 1 to 3: 25 souls for the first level, 75 more for the next.
  3. Pet levels feed the genus. A pet's three levels give its genus 500, 250 and 250 EXP (1,000 per maxed pet).
  4. Collect for milestone rewards. Every 10 pets you own pays 100 Soul Crystals (Bound), the wildcard kind. Every 50 pets pays 10 transformation candies.

Duplicate souls can be crystallized into Soul Crystals or used for bulk analysis.

Genus Insight levels

Genus Insight screen for the Cogni genus at level 5 with four rolled slots and the Analyze button
Pets > Genus Insight: Cogni at level 5. Locked slots show their unlock level; Analyze costs 20 crystals and 5,000 Kinah here; locked slots raise the cost.

Each genus levels from 1 to 10, and slot N opens at level N: level 9 opens all 9 slots.

  • Level 1 to 10 takes 250,500 EXP for one genus. Maxed pets give 1,000 each, so most of it comes from analysis.
  • Heroic (orange) stats: 1% at level 9, 5% at level 10. They don't exist below 9. (The game files call this grade "Epic" internally and "Legend" for the in-game Epic; this page uses the names the game shows: Common, Rare, Epic, Unique, Heroic.)
  • Unique stats start at level 7 (1%).
  • Max every genus for the title Unbound by Genus: PvE Damage Boost 4.5%, Attack 34, Critical Hit 68. It's the best offensive PvE title right now.

Analysis (rerolling) and locks

  • One analysis rerolls every open slot you haven't locked. It costs 4 Soul Crystals (that genus's color, or the wildcard) plus 1,000 Kinah, and gives 100 EXP per slot analyzed.
  • Locking a slot keeps its stat. Each lock raises the cost of every later analysis.
  • Auto-Analysis rerolls until a stat at or above the grade you pick shows up, then stops.

Levelling to 10 cheaply: the second preset

Genus Insight has presets (the game says "Genus Insight changed to Preset {0}" when you switch). Players on r/Aion2 level on a second preset with nothing locked, and keep their good rolls locked on the first [Community, October 2026]. The EXP goes to the genus either way; only the cost changes.

Why it matters, from the client's numbers above (an analysis gives 100 EXP per slot it rolls; locked slots roll nothing and add their surcharge):

At level 9 (9 slots open)Kinah per analysisEXP per analysisKinah per 1,000 EXP
No locks9,00090010,000
2 locks11,00070015,700
3 locks15,00060025,000
4 locks24,00050048,000

Level 9 to 10 takes 100,000 EXP: about 1,000,000 Kinah and 4,000 crystals with nothing locked, and roughly five times the Kinah with four locks. One player on the thread burned 5,000,000 Kinah spamming analysis on locked boards.

More from the same thread [Community]: don't lock before level 9, because pre-9 rolls are low tier (a god-roll orange at 9 is the exception); one player says an alt on the same server can run the analyses with its own Kinah (not checked by us); one player put the cost of 1 to 10 on all five genera, with early locks, at about 20,000,000 Kinah.

What each slot can roll

The slot layout is the same on every genus:

SlotTypeMain stats on offer
1, 5OffenseAttack Bonus, Max Attack, PvE Attack, Boss Attack, Back/Front Attack, Critical Attack, Penetration
2, 8DefenseHP increase, Defense, PvE/Boss Defense, Critical Damage Tolerance, Critical Hit Resist
3, 6, 9PrecisionCritical Hit, Back/Front Attack Critical Hit, Accuracy, PvE Accuracy, Power Shard Damage Bonus, Block, Evasion
4Special offensePvE Damage Boost, the genus's special boost (table above), Damage Boost, Status Effect Chance
7Special defensePvE Damage Tolerance, the genus's special tolerance, Damage Tolerance, Status Effect Resist

Every slot can also roll genus-only stats (damage, defense, crit or accuracy against that genus). Those are weak fillers.

What top players take (PvE damage)

From Krix Domi, the Global #1 Assassin:

SlotsTakeWhy
1, 5Max Attack or Attack BonusMax Attack scales with Perfect; Attack Bonus scales with Attack %
2, 8HP
3, 6, 9Critical HitOn Fera, a commenter suggested Power Shard Damage Bonus in slot 3; Krix said "u might be cooking"
4PvE Damage Boost (2 to 4% at Heroic), or the genus boost: Back Attack on Varian, Critical Damage on Cogni, Weapon Damage on FeraThe biggest single stat on the board
7PvE Damage Tolerance or Damage Tolerance

Lock order and targets per genus (TheWhelps)

From TheWhelps' video on genus stats (12 October 2026, YouTube) and the summary pinned under it:

  • Lock order: slots 4, 1, 5 first, then 3, 6, 9, then 2, 7, 8. Finish 4/1/5 on every genus before going for the rest.
  • Start with the Special genus.
GenusSlot 4 targetSlot 7 target

Second opinions: Nellan97 and Exca

Nellan97's pet and Genus guide (14 October 2026, YouTube) and Exca's Cleric build (our page) mostly agree with TheWhelps. Where they differ:

Slot 4Nellan97Exca
SpecialDouble Chance (keep 2% and up) or Back/Front Attack Damage Boost (keep 3%)Double Chance
VarianBack/Front Attack Damage Boost (keep 2%), else PvE Damage Boost (keep 3%)Front Attack Damage Boost
NaturaPvE Damage Boost only (keep 2.8% and up)Perfect Chance
FeraWeapon Damage Boost (keep 2%; 3% is rare)Weapon Damage Boost
CogniPvE Damage Boost, not Damage or Critical Damage Boost (crit is capped at 50%, so it doesn't always apply)Critical Damage or PvE Damage Boost
  • Nellan97's value rule: max the Unique grade on every board (Attack Bonus 12, Max Attack 16 in slots 1 and 5) before chasing Heroic rolls on one. A good average beats one perfect board.
  • Slot 7, PvE only: PvE Damage Tolerance; if you also play PvP, take plain Damage Tolerance where the board has it.
  • Use Auto Analysis, not the F key: pick the stats per slot, let it roll, check what stopped it. Only select stats in the slots you are working on.
  • Pets first: 100 kills of a pet type max it. Cogni at level 3 gives Might (+0.1% attack each), Natura gives Precision (+0.1% accuracy or crit each), so the many Cogni pets add up.

[Community] One commenter spent over 20,000,000 Kinah and 40,000 crystals and barely reached 2% Double Chance on Special slot 4. Another: level all boards to 10 for the Unbound by Genus title before rolling for stats.

Moxsy's reroll method (23 Oct)

  • Reroll a board with nothing locked until slot 4 hits the stat you want, then lock it and reroll the rest.
  • A good Unique roll can beat a Heroic one: Unique Double Chance is 1 to 2%, Heroic 1.5 to 3%, so a 2% Unique is worth keeping.
  • Stats tied to one genus ("Fera Critical Hit", "Cogni Critical Hit") only work against that type of enemy. Skip them.
  • On the other slots, Attack, Max Attack and Attack Bonus beat PvE, boss and front/back attack, because only the first three are multiplied by Weapon Damage Boost. Why: Gear upgrades and the damage formula.

Soul Crystals

XifanGG's short (8 October 2026, video above) makes the same point as "the mistake 99% of new players make": spend Special crystals on the Special genus only, and push it to level 10 first, because the other four genera's crystals drop from field monsters and Special ones don't. [Community] The top comment disagrees on the order: levelling every genus to max first gives the gold title sooner, and farming enough crystals to take one genus to 10 "takes a hell of a long time". Both agree: never spend Special crystals on the other boards.

Pet auto-loot

The Pet Auto-Loot Collection Voucher (30 days, 2,000,000 Kinah, Shop > utility tab) makes your pet pick up drops while you grind. It's bound to the character.

Server transfers

Pets and Genus Crystals move to the new server and are removed from the old one. For Genus Insight you choose whose progress to keep, the old server's or the new one's; the other is reset. See server transfers.

Quick plan

  1. Collect pets of all five genera. Each genus opens on its first pet, and every 10 pets pays 100 wildcard crystals.
  2. Level pets for their EXP, then analyze to level each genus.
  3. Below level 9, analyze for EXP only. Heroic stats can't roll yet.
  4. At 9 to 10, lock up to 2 good stats and roll for slot 4.
